Ecosia - the tree planting search engine

Fed up of being in thrall to Google? Then switch to Berlin-based search engine Ecosia which donates 80 per cent of profits to environmental good causes

Ecosia say they've already planted 4 million trees

Don't like Google's tax arrangements? feel like a powerless subject of the global tech giants? Then you could take a stand and switch to making Ecosia your default search engine.

Why? because this Berlin-based business, which is funded by advertising, says it donates 80 per cent of its profits to planting trees and since the business was founded by Christian Kroll in 2009, it's planted five million + trees.

Ecosia is focusing on one of the continent's poorest countries, Burkina Faso in north west Africa, and it's aiming to have planted one billion trees by the end of 2020, contributing to achieving a 'Great Green Wall' across Africa.

Let's plant trees and green the desert
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country that often experiences drought
