It's LED-only lighting at Ikea

The global retailer announces that from now on, it's selling only energy-saving LED lighting products

Lighting from Ikea uses LEDs as the light source

Ikea's becoming the first retail giant to offer its entire lighting collection that uses LEDs as the light source. They're energy saving and long lasting and should help customers cut their electricity bills.

Ikea says it's to become the first major global retailer to offer a 100 per cent LED lighting range when its LED roll-out completes next month.

So whatever lighting lamp or fixture you choose from the company's extensive collection, its light source will be LED, which is far more energy efficient even other energy saving bulbs such as CFLs (compact fluorescents).

And if you still have the traditional incandescent bulbs in your home, note that LEDs use 85 per cent less energy, last 20 times longer and have a lifetime of some 25,000 hours.

Ikea LEDs are also free from mercury and come in a range of sizes so you won't have to put up with bulbs that protrude out of your lampshade!

Whatever type of light you need, Ikea's product will use LEDs

Steve Howard, Ikea's Chief Sustainability Officer, says the company wants to help its customers live more sustainably and LEDs are an easy way for all of us to cut our energy consumption.

'We’re dedicated to helping customers live a more sustainable life at home with simple solutions,' he says, 'which is why we’re so proud of our fully LED lighting range. By switching to LED our customers will not only reduce their carbon footprint but it'll help them combat rising energy prices.'
