Planted: new zero-waste design show

Planted is a new outdoor event showcasing sustainable design. Part of the London Design Festival 2021, it's taking place at the regenerated Kings Cross site in London this September.

Planted is a new outdoor design event focusing on zero waste

If you love all things sustainable and zero waste, as well as being outside, head to Kings Cross in London for Planted, which runs from 23-26 September

Planted, the first contemporary design show aimed at reconnecting people and spaces with nature, promises an impressive line-up of sustainable brands to sit alongside programme of inspiring talks, so if you like design and you care about the environment, well don't miss this show if you're in London between 23-26 September.

It offers the chance to see the latest products from sustainable design brands including Benchmark, Another Country, Vestre, Naturalmat, LSA x Eden Project, Out of the Valley, Very Good & Proper, Form & Refine, Less is Better, Teer & Co, Nikari and Woodnotes.

Planted was set up by Deborah Spencer, who previously owned the designjunction show, Sam Peters, a former Sunday Times journalist, River Cottage cheif eecutive Stewart Dodd and design agent Alice Breed.

Deborah says she hopes a visit to Planted will stiffen everyone's resolve to fight climate change: 'As we deepen our understanding of the pressure our planet is under, in large part due to human activity, we recognise the urgent need to change consumption habits and drive cultural change, ultimately leading us to consider the environment in every decision we make.'

'Every sector needs to take responsibility and the events industry is no exception. Historically we have been part of a wasteful system and not paid enough attention to our environmental impact. By working only with brands who place the environment, nature and sustainable practice at the heart of everything they do and ensuring every part of the show production is repurposed, reused or recycled can we help shift the dial towards more circular systems and achieving best practice. This is a huge challenge but we are excited, energised and focused on changing the way events are delivered.'

Talks programme

Planted Unplugged is a three-part talks programme exploring how sustainability, design, architecture and nature can combine to create cleaner, greener, healthier urban spaces.

Hosted by biophilic design expert Oliver Heath and Planted co-founder Sam Peters, and with a range of high-profile industry experts, Planted Unplugged will 'forge discussion around our right to repair, carbon capturing and blooming buildings.'
