Nani Marquina makes beautiful contemporary carpets and rugs designed by Nani herself and top independent designers. Rugs are made from wool and other sustainable fibres including jute. A lot of our rugs are made in India, where we work with the Care&Fair organisation to improve education for the children of the people who make our rugs, as well as facilities and amenities for workers in the textile industry. We believe products should be recyclable or biodegradable and our carpets are both. Find us online at Nest (

We sell beautiful vintage Swedish rugs. Sourced in rural Sweden, our rugs come in a variety of patterns and colourways and date from the 1920s to the 1970s. Woven on traditional floors looms, they're highly sought-after and are becoming increasingly rare.
Very much a part of Swedish cultural heritage, the rugs are a great example of upcycling because they were woven from the leftover fabric in a typical Swedish household.
The rugs we sell at The Northern House work brilliantly in both traditional and contemporary interiors. They were made for everyday use - and people would weave them for special occasions too - so despite their vintage status, they're hardwearing and soft underfoot. We're confident you'll love and admire them but remember these are rugs to be trodden on!

Stylish, sustainable floors from Kährs
Kährs' award-winning range includes over 140 wood floor designs, crafted in Sweden from sustainable timber and featuring a nature-friendly construction.
Designs span from traditional rustic one-strip boards and parquet patterned designs, to even-grained floors for a minimalistic look. Many feature on-trend stained finishes, as well as hand-crafted surface treatments, including brushing, sawing, smoking, handscraping and bevel details.
Commitment to the environment is reflected throughout Kährs' production and floors are constructed using a multi-layered method, based on the original ‘parquet’ design invented and patented by Kährs in 1941.  As well as providing greater stability, it also uses resources in the most nature-friendly way by minimising waste. Floors also feature Kährs Woodloc® joint, which promotes a fast glueless installation and eliminates gapping throughout the lifetime of the floor.
