When they were looking for things for their home, Imogen Minoli and Edward Davies were struck by how untransparent the labelling on goods was, so they didn't really know how eco-friendly or sustainable something was. And they were incredulous at the amount of plastic packaging that comes with so many purchases.

Reduced plastic in Wilko Christmas paper products

As we now know, many Christmas paper products aren't recyclable because they have hard-to-separate coatings of plastic or are covered with non-recyclable glitter or foil. This year retailer Wilko has taken steps towards eliminating single-use plastic from its paper and packaging. For example its gift and bottle bags are now 100 per cent recyclable, as are  its duo cocktail kisses and duo Christmas foliage 16-pack Christmas card packs - both cards and the boxes they come in.

The Ideal Home Show at London's Earls Court

The Ideal Home Show at London's Earls Court runs until April 1. It has full size houses, lots of eco friendly, sustainable products and room sets, and a packed schedule of talks and seminars, and plenty of celebrities such as George Clarke, and Alan Titchmarsh. The show is in its 105th year.
