DRIFT Energy wins RINA certification

DRIFT Energy, a deep tech startup based in Bath, has been awarded recognition by RINA for its energy harvesting vessel design

RINA has high hopes for DRIFT Energy's new ship design

DRIFT Energy is thrilled RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) has awarded it an Approval In Principle certificate for its energy harvesting ship design. Startup DRIFT has designed catamaran-like vessels that use hydro-kinetic turbines under the hull to produce electricity which is then converted via electrolysis into green hydrogen fuel and stored onboard for delivery to ports. DRIFT aims to drive a resilient clean energy transition particularly for coastal and island communities and sectors facing challenges in decarbonisation due to grid constraints or limited access to renewable energy
