Edward Bulmer Natural Paints

Edward Bulmer Natural Paint

Court Of Noke, Pembridge, Herefordshire, HR6 9HW

phone: 01544 388535

Eco-friendly paints are paints that don't off-gas and don't contain plastic. Edward Bulmer Natural Paint offers an extensive palette of wonderful colours and a paint that is plastic free and breathable. The paint is microporous which means it lets walls and woodwork breathe naturally. It does not form a plastic film which traps in moisture and mould. Owners of heritage and listed buildings understand the importance of breathable paints on old substrates but this is just as important for modern buildings. The matt chalky finish of our natural paints has both exceptional depth and a subtle response to light, which synthetic paints can't mimic. Colours are formulated by Edward Bulmer and the paint is manufactured in the EU.

Littleworks Creative

phone: +44 (0)7974 187479

Littleworks Creative offers little works of art by Tamara Williams. She makes her unique pieces using plaster to cast both intaglio and relief plates. Each cast is unique, since no two castings are the same. Even colours can change due to the plaster baking the surface and altering the stability of the inks..Tamara's exquisite artworks always start with a drawing - and much of her inspiration comes from plants. Each plaster tile is air-dried, mounted and framed, and frames are hand-painted. Works are made to order and colours can be specified. Prices from £65

Woven Image panels are made from 60 per cent recycled plastic bottles

Woven Image

(UK) The Collective Agency

phone: +44 (0)20 3633 3138

Woven Image is an Australian company that manufactures innovative surface coverings and textiles. One of its key products is its award-winning EchoPanel, a versatile eco-friendly acoustic material made from 60 per post consumer recycled plastic bottles and 40 per cent virgin PET, and which is 100 per cent recyclable

Available in different thicknesses (7,12 and 24mm) and lots of designs and colours, EchoPanel is a fun, modern material can be used in myriad ways in residential, office and contract interiors - as wall cladding, space dividers, decorative designs, desk dividers or indeed as artwork. It has the added bonus of being able to absorb sound, so in spaces that are noisy or echoey, it creates what's called acoustic comfort for people.

EchoPanel demonstrates upcycling at its best because it's taking a waste material and creating a high quality new product from it. It comes in panel form, ready-made freestanding screens, ceiling suspended space dividers and in packs of peel-and-stick tiles - which are great fun to use.

So if want to update your interiors and have acoustic benefit too, check out EchoPanel - available to order in the UK through The Collective Agency.

Purely Shutters widow covers

Purely Shutters

Unit 5, Birmingham Trade Park, Kingsbury Road, Birmingham, B24 9PS

phone: 0800 038 5311
Shutters not only look great, they're a recognised energy efficiency measure under the government's Green Deal, with an estimated £96 savings per year on a three-bedroom house (2013). In summer use shutters to keep your house cool, and in winter use them to let in natural warm light, then close them when it gets dark to retain heat in your home. It’s estimated that shutters reduce heat loss from windows by 25-50 per cent, so they're a very sensible investment.

At Purely Shutters we care about the environment and ethics. All our woods are from sustainable sources: we buy cedar from managed forests where a tree is replanted for everyone felled; our laminated wooden shutters come from parasol, a fast-growing farmed wood; and our Warwick range is our most eco-friendly, because no trees have been felled for them - rather the laminate is produced from waste off-cuts not useable elsewhere.

Purely Shutters' products allow you to maintain privacy, especially important if you live in close proximity to your neighbours. But because you can open the slats during daytime, you'll get maximum light in your rooms, which is important because natural light is vital for our health and wellbeing.
