AntikBar vintage travel posters

AntikBar

404 Kings Road, London, SW10 0LJ

phone: 020 7352 9309

AntikBar is the London gallery specialising in original vintage posters covering a wide variety of subjects - travel, advertising, sport, cinema, war, propaganda - from around the world, available to view at their gallery and online, with worldwide delivery.

AntikBar holds regular original vintage poster auctions and offers professional linen backing and poster restoration services. They provide collection advice and consultancy services and can source posters for collectors, individual clients, interior designers, museums and other institutions.

Original vintage posters are a true form of art with a purpose, designed to deliver a particular message through striking designs and created to grab the attention of passers-by, presenting artists with the challenge of condensing the message or concept into a precise, short visual and written form in a single artwork. They are important items of social history that capture the essence of the time they were printed.

The variety of sizes, subjects and styles in poster design make them perfect as a gift and adaptable to any interior design, from contemporary to traditional. As original antique and vintage items, they are also eco-friendly. Original vintage posters are recognised as a sound art investment that can be enjoyed every day.

Linen is one of the most eco friendly textiles. It comes from flax, which grows abundantly in Europe and it doesn't need special irrigation or pesticide treatments, unlike conventional cotton which requires huge volumes of water and pesticides. Linen looks beautiful, it drapes so nicely and it comes in different weights. Heavy linen is fabulous for curtains, blinds, upholstery, while finer linen is used for clothing. Here at Ada & Ina, you'll find a huge choice of linens, from plains to patterns and in different weights. So make your interiors eco friendly by using linen for your soft furnishings.

For a stunning, hardwearing dining room floor, choose from Kährs' stylish, sustainable wood products.

Kährs' award-winning range includes over 140 wood floor designs, made in Sweden from sustainable timber and featuring a nature-friendly construction.

Designs span from traditional rustic one-strip boards and parquet patterned designs, to simple even-grained floors. Many feature on-trend stained finishes, as well as hand-crafted surface treatments, including brushing, sawing, smoking, handscraping and bevel details.

Commitment to the environment is reflected throughout Kährs' production and floors are constructed using a multi-layered method, based on the original ‘parquet’ design invented and patented by Kährs in 1941. As well as providing greater stability, it also uses resources in the most nature-friendly way.

Floors also feature Kährs Woodloc® joint, which promotes a fast glueless installation and eliminates gapping throughout the lifetime of the floor.

Woven Image

(UK) The Collective Agency

Woven Image is an Australian company that manufactures innovative surface coverings and textiles. One of its key products is its award-winning EchoPanel, a versatile eco-friendly acoustic material made from 60 per post consumer recycled plastic bottles and 40 per cent virgin PET, and which is 100 per cent recyclable

Available in different thicknesses (7,12 and 24mm) and lots of designs and colours, EchoPanel is a fun, modern material can be used in myriad ways in residential, office and contract interiors - as wall cladding, space dividers, decorative designs, desk dividers or indeed as artwork. It has the added bonus of being able to absorb sound, so in spaces that are noisy or echoey, it creates what's called acoustic comfort for people.

EchoPanel demonstrates upcycling at its best because it's taking a waste material and creating a high quality new product from it. It comes in panel form, ready-made freestanding screens, ceiling suspended space dividers and in packs of peel-and-stick tiles - which are great fun to use.

So if want to update your interiors and have acoustic benefit too, check out EchoPanel - available to order in the UK through The Collective Agency.

Purely Shutters widow covers

Purely Shutters

Unit 5, Birmingham Trade Park, Kingsbury Road, Birmingham, B24 9PS

phone: 0800 038 5311
Shutters not only look great, they're a recognised energy efficiency measure under the government's Green Deal, with an estimated £96 savings per year on a three-bedroom house (2013). In summer use shutters to keep your house cool, and in winter use them to let in natural warm light, then close them when it gets dark to retain heat in your home. It’s estimated that shutters reduce heat loss from windows by 25-50 per cent, so they're a very sensible investment.

At Purely Shutters we care about the environment and ethics. All our woods are from sustainable sources: we buy cedar from managed forests where a tree is replanted for everyone felled; our laminated wooden shutters come from parasol, a fast-growing farmed wood; and our Warwick range is our most eco-friendly, because no trees have been felled for them - rather the laminate is produced from waste off-cuts not useable elsewhere.

Purely Shutters' products allow you to maintain privacy, especially important if you live in close proximity to your neighbours. But because you can open the slats during daytime, you'll get maximum light in your rooms, which is important because natural light is vital for our health and wellbeing.
