Floordrobe review
We bought one, it's pretty useful...but please stop wrapping each component in clingfilm...the packaging contains FAR too much plastic

The Floordrobe is undoubtedly useful: it adds another place to hang clothes and helps keep the bedroom tidy. You come to appreciate it once you've got over the shock of having to unwrap each component from the acres of clingfilm the company seems to think it's perfectly reasonable to use. It's not! this plastic is totally un-eco and completely unnecessary - just stick to cardboard packaging, it's fine. (current sale) price: £64.99
You're probably deluged with stuff about the Floordrobe too and in case you're wondering about buying one, well, I did, so I'll share my thoughts.
My main gripe is it comes flat-packed in a cardboard box..great..but when you open it up you're greeted by plastic...every component is covered in clingfilm, so it's bemusing as to why and it takes hours to unfurl everything and you're just exasperated by the amount of plastic in the box. That said I did complain to the company via a feedback form and got a response saying they'll be reducing the plastic... don't reduce it, just don't use it. It's not needed and it makes an eco friendly product seem very un-eco...
However, moving on, it's essentially a small ladder - two metal poles with four flat pieces of wood, onto which you place hooks. It's a double-sided piece as the hooks go over the wood slats. The makers want to market it has a place to hang clothes that don't yet need a wash, but really it's just very useful for hanging up stuff that normally lies on the floor (in the case of young men) or is piled on a chair. Our son's room is so much more tidy now he/mum can pile things onto hooks rather than have a ton of clothing on the floor.
I did have to buy more hooks though.. you get six, but I don't think that's enough, so I bought three more for £15...which I think is a lot. But they are double-sided powder-coated steel hooks so they will last.
The Floordrobe is made in Vietnam and the wood used Acacia, also grown in Vietnam.
Does decomag recommend the Floordrobe?
In short, yes. If you don't have much space, don't have a wardrobe, the wardrobe's full, the hooks on the back of the door are laden to bursting, then definitely get one. It's a relatively inexpensive way to keep clothes hung up. And the components, being wood and metal, are sturdy and recyclable.
But to the manufacturers, please just use cardboard packaging, dump the plastic.
Ease of assembly
Once you've got the components unwrapped, it's very easy to put the Floordrobe together..takes a few minutes.
